Facebook Is Launching New Tool Under The ‘Data Transfer Project’

Facebook is all ready to introduce its latest tool which is designed in order to let the users of Facebook export their photos from their Facebook account to the Google Photos which is an online gallery app by Google. The tool is introduced as a part of their ‘data transfer project’, this data transfer project is designed for the Facebook users so that “all individuals across the web could easily move their data between online service providers whenever they want.”

The new tool by Facebook could increase the risk of potential privacy concerns and in reference to that Steve Satterfield who works as Facebook‘s Director of Privacy and Public Policy, says, “We’ve kept privacy and security as top priorities, so all data transferred will be encrypted and people will be asked to enter their password before a transfer is initiated.”

The Data Transfer Project by Facebook is made in collaboration with big brands that include names like Apple, Microsoft, Google. Firstly they are initiating this project with Google Photos and the progress will be carried gradually and they will later focus on other companies. The project was first introduced in Ireland and now it is going to be launched worldwide. It will be launched worldwide in the first half of 2020

“It seems clear that people should be able to transfer data such as the photos they upload to a service. We’ve learned from our conversations with policymakers, regulators, academics, advocates, and others that real-world use cases and tools will help drive policy discussions forward,” he added further.
