Lately, Apple had released a lineup of the iPhone X series which has received good critics from its fans. But last Sunday Apple released some of its new services which are Apple branded credit card, video streaming service, subscription gaming platform, and magazines and news services a.k.a Apple News+.

The event was a massive hit and Apple News+ got more than 200,000 subscribers within 48 hours, the data is based on The New York Times report.

Apple News+ is a subscription-based service offered by Apple that provides access to a wide range of digital magazines and newspapers. In its first week of launch, Apple News+ managed to attract over 200,000 subscribers. The service offers users the ability to browse and read content from popular publications across various categories, including news, lifestyle, entertainment, and more. With its vast selection of magazines and newspapers, Apple News+ aims to provide a convenient and comprehensive platform for users to stay informed and entertained.

The Apple News+ app didn’t fall far from the tree

The only service introduced by Apple last week was Apple News+ which is headlined by The Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times and provides its user to choose from more than 300 popular magazines and publications. After a month of the free trial, the users will have to pay $9.99 which is $10 obviously, and $12.99 in Canada. The service is yet to be released in Australia and Europe and for the global audience later this year.

The service is modeled after Texture, which Apple acquired last year. Before being acquired by Apple Texture used to provide a subscription to only 200 magazines and digital publications so Apple’s strategy is to build up a number of the audience by providing more choices by shutting down Texture and moving its user to apple news+. John Loughlin, Ceo of Texture stated in 2016 that it has more than “hundreds of thousands” of users.

A dozen of high-profile brands will grace Apple’s screen everywhere. The titles will cover a wide cross-section of interests including style and beauty (VogueInStyle), food (Bon Appetit), and science and technology (National GeographicScientific American) also offering feature publications focused on business and politics (TimeThe Atlantic), travel (Conde Nast Traveler), sports (Runners WorldSports Illustrated), and entertainment (PeopleVanity Fair). Readers will also get access to several popular digital publications, like TechCrunch and Wired.

While providing its users with services like this the main agenda of Apple is obviously to retain its position as a trillion-dollar company and generate a hefty revenue. Apple managed to generate approximately $ 256 billion in revenue in the past 12 months, and if the 200k subscribers continued their subscription even after the trial period expires it will only generate 24 million dollars for Apple and that is before the publisher’s cut. This is a good strategy for recurring income and a bright future for Apple News+.

iPhone 11 Review: The Newly Launched Smartphone By Apple https://techozen.com/iphone-11-review-the-newly-launched-smartphone-by-apple/ https://techozen.com/iphone-11-review-the-newly-launched-smartphone-by-apple/#respond Thu, 19 Sep 2019 07:24:32 +0000 https://techozen.com/?p=2065 Apple has released a whole new series of smartphones in its annual event. The gadget fans always remain excited about the event and this time the company stood up to everyone’s expectations and gave us some absolute masterpieces. Apple launched the iPhone 11 series and the starting range of these iPhones is $699. The iPhones are out and now everyone is waiting for the reviews so here it is:

Talking about the pros, the iPhone 11 is slightly cheaper than last year’s XR and gives you the first-rate performance. However, the screen can not be count as a pro because we have seen better earlier. The main advantage of having an iPhone 11 is the camera because this phone gives you the flexible ultra-wide camera and honestly it is really good for the price in which they are offering it.

As you can see in the design it has multiple cameras that give you ultra-wide range for clicking the pictures. And people who are thinking about upgrading to a newer iPhone should think about iPhone 11. It offers amazing battery life that lasts long and is one of it’s greatest pros.

However, there is some bad stuff about the phone that we would like to make you aware of. The operating system in iPhone 11 that is iOS 13 is buggy. It has a 5w charger. It is just an upgrade of last year’s iPhone XR. Everything is the same except the design which is slightly better in iPhone 11. The camera bump on the phone will not bother you much.

Next Apple Watch Could Include New Ceramic and Titanium Models https://techozen.com/next-apple-watch-could-include-new-ceramic-and-titanium-models/ https://techozen.com/next-apple-watch-could-include-new-ceramic-and-titanium-models/#respond Sun, 18 Aug 2019 21:44:43 +0000 https://techozen.com/?p=1868 Among the many products released by Apple, Apple watches also have gained a significant amount of popularity. Right now the company is working on their latest release of Apple watches in which they are adding two new models. The new version of Apple Watch could contain the addition of new materials for their case, including titanium and ceramic. That means the company is planning onto adding two models of watches with a Titanium case and Ceramic case.

However, Apple has previously introduced its watches in Ceramic case. The company has used ceramic as a material for the case of their watches in its series 2 and series 3 models. The watches came in two colors, black and white. But Apple has never used the titanium metal before and now it will be the first time when they will be using this metal for their watches.

Titanium has really gained popularity because of its durability and light weightedness. It is very famous among watchmakers. The amazing ability of Titanium of providing a premium looks to the watches meanwhile also impressing the users with reducing the heft of a watch case.

Apple watches were first released in the year 2015 and since then the company has only once made some significant changes in its design and that was last year. We only rarely see some changes in the looks of Apple products. And it is very unlikely of Apple to again change the model design of their watches again this year. Apple is likely to offer these alongside its stainless steel and aluminum models.

A New Lawsuit Filed Against Apple For Invading User’s Privacy https://techozen.com/a-new-lawsuit-filed-against-apple-for-invading-users-privacy/ https://techozen.com/a-new-lawsuit-filed-against-apple-for-invading-users-privacy/#respond Sat, 10 Aug 2019 09:03:03 +0000 https://techozen.com/?p=1828 The latest lawsuit is filed against Apple that claims that the company is invading customer’s privacy and violating some consumer rights as their digital assistant Siri is recording without consent. Siri is the digital assistant of Apple that helps the users in various tasks and makes operating the phone easier for them. But what looked like a friend is now turning into the enemy, as reported Siri is accused of recording everything on the phone of users without their consent and in this way the company is violating the rules of customer privacy.

The class-action lawsuit has been reported against Apple after The Guardian revealed that the contractors that get hired by the company that keeps the track of the performance of their digital assistant Siri can hear the user’s every conversation that includes even the controversial ones.

After this lawsuit was filed, the company released a statement stating that Apple was suspending the grading program of their digital assistant worldwide after the reports. Apple is also accused of not informing their users about the recording done by their voice assistant. The company did not respond instantly to the issue but now they are working towards giving their users more privacy than before.

This is not the first time that any company with a virtual assistant had to face fire for invading the privacy of their customers. Earlier, Amazon got accused of the same. Alexa which is Amazon’s virtual assistant is also accused of listening to the private conversations of the customers.

iPhone’s before iPhone 7 will not support iOS 13 https://techozen.com/iphones-before-iphone-7-will-not-support-ios-13/ https://techozen.com/iphones-before-iphone-7-will-not-support-ios-13/#respond Tue, 14 May 2019 21:52:24 +0000 https://techozen.com/?p=1366

Apple is expected to introduce us to the successor of iOS 12 during its one of the biggest event next month but the new announcement is going to come with bad news as per few sources Apple could drop iOS 13 support for its old devices which means a bunch of iPhone’s are not going to get the new software upgrade.

According to a few sources, Apple is going to drop iPhone 6 series, iPhone SE and older phones from the update cycle along with this the iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, and the iPad mini 4. The decision to exclude iPhone SE and iPhone 6 series is much more shocking than removing the old iPad’s because these two iPhone series are still one of the best selling iPhone’s in developing countries. The major reason decision for this decision could be to boost the sales of the newer range of iPhone’s.

If this report is true then lots of users will be left with no choice but to stick with iOS 12 or to upgrade to other devices.

We are still unclear why Apple excluded iPhone SE which is just 3 years old but what we can understand is that there can be any hardware compatibility issue because iPhone SE runs on A9 which is used in iPhone 6S range while the 6S is maybe receiving the update.

Still, we don’t have any confirmation from Apple so, one should take this info with a pinch of salt.

Counterpoint release list of ten bestselling smartphones of 2018 https://techozen.com/counterpoint-release-list-of-ten-bestselling-smartphones-of-2018/ https://techozen.com/counterpoint-release-list-of-ten-bestselling-smartphones-of-2018/#respond Tue, 07 May 2019 09:41:14 +0000 https://techozen.com/?p=1199

Smartphone industry saw a huge decline in sales mostly during the second half of 2018 manufacturers struggled to cope up to their first-half records. The reason was a global economic slowdown, due to which people preferred not to buy a spend their hard earned money and companies also tried to adjust as per the situation. Manufacturers came up with low-cost devices to create interest in which some fared well but some failed miserably.

Recently, counterpoint released a list of bestselling smartphones of 2018 and it gave a look at which smartphones generated the most traction and ended up in public hands.

Recommended News:

Before giving you a glimpse here’s a short summary for you. That 6 out of 10 top smartphones are of Apple which is kind of shocking as we all know how costly these smartphones are and statistically Apple had a terrible first half.

So starting up with the list, Apple’s iPhone X tops the list followed by another Apple device you may know as iPhone 8, Apple’s 2016 flagship. Going on to the 3rd place we get the iPhone 8 big brother basically it’s huge variant called iPhone 8 Plus and on the 4th position, we have Apple’s 2015 flagship smartphone iPhone 7. So, the Apple streak ends here and now we continue to the fifth position.

On 5th we have Xiaomi’s ultra-budget smartphone Redmi 5A with basic specifications and a solid low cost it attracted a huge amount of attention.

Now, Samsung instead of great sales record and huge profits came 6th place with their 2018’s flagship the S9 and then continued by two another Apple devices, the iPhone XS Max and iPhone XS at 7th and 8th position respectively.

Whereas Samsung S9 and it’s budget smartphone J6 got 9th and 10th position respectively.

According to Counterpoint, developing countries with a huge amount of millennials helped these companies to boost their smartphone sales.

Counterpoint also released another China specific report where Oppo dominated the list and Apple just got two spots in the list where iPhone X is on the second spot.

Wall Street banks partner with tech giants after sensing threats https://techozen.com/wall-street-banks-partner-with-tech-giants-after-sensing-threats/ https://techozen.com/wall-street-banks-partner-with-tech-giants-after-sensing-threats/#respond Sat, 27 Apr 2019 16:56:12 +0000 https://techozen.com/?p=989 They are partnering with companies like Apple and Amazon

The entry of tech giants in consumer finance was something that seemed almost bound to happen. There have been many cases of the tech giants that have waded into these shark infested water, it was never seen openly in the public domain.

All this one could say changed recently as we saw in Cupertino, California where Apple released their new credit card last month with a great deal of pomp. This was a pioneering move by both Apple and the industrious bank, Goldman Sachs who are one of the key partners in the deal.

In the announcement, one would not have known that Goldman Sachs had played such a major role in the decision when we saw the mere passing reference made to them as nothing more than a footnote in the event. The entire event was handled and hosted by Tim Cook the CEO of Apple Inc. as the CEO of Goldman Sachs stood on the sidelines and clapped while in truth he should have been proposing the plan along with Cook on stage.

Recommended News:

This entire situation is in a way satirical and almost accurate representation of what the market and Wall Street will be reduced to if in future they continue to collaborate with these technological giants.

However, the question that most people have on their minds is whether or not these banks are ready to sacrifice their place in the driver’s seat because of the millions of customers that partnership with these tech giants would bring them into their banks. This is is a dilemma that the banks clearly have to face where they lose something integral irrespective of the decision they make.

If they choose not to entertain the partnerships of these tech giants they lose out on an opportunity to have millions of new customers join them. But, if they do accept a partnership they seem to be taking a backseat in all the ventures and decisions and may just become another front for these extremely successful companies.

The tech companies also have a reason for needing these partnerships. As they enter the world of consumer finance these tech giants need these Wallstreet heavy hitters in order to navigate this new terrain. It is not all great news for the banks as mentioned earlier as if these deals are agreed upon the more lucrative facets of the company like the customer relations and branding will go to the tech companies. The stakes, however, are higher than they have ever been with almost 40% of the $1.35 trillion in revenues that will go to these companies like Amazon and Apple, and maybe also to price competition.

American tech companies are in a way looking to their Chinese counterparts like Alibaba and Tencent as inspiration, these companies have already become major players due to their mobile applications that have greatly increased their ease of transactions, investing and payments.

American companies like Google, Amazon, and Apple are not far behind as they have begun to encroach on the turf of the banks. Google has Google Pay, Apple has Apple Pay, Amazon has Amazon Cash and Amazon Pay with which customers shop online and even Facebook is looking to enable payments via Whatsapp. These tech giants are doing this in order to fuel their revenue growth and also help them strengthen their grip on the market.

Intel may release 10nm desktop cores only in 2022 https://techozen.com/intel-may-release-10nm-desktop-cores-only-in-2022/ https://techozen.com/intel-may-release-10nm-desktop-cores-only-in-2022/#respond Fri, 26 Apr 2019 13:41:57 +0000 https://techozen.com/?p=834 Desktops may have to wait till 2020 but laptops start moving to the shrunken process node

Despite displaying the Sunny Cove next-generation 10nm architecture at the business end of 2018 Intel has struggled in bringing this vision to fruition. Leaked slides that showed the roadmap of the Intel processor journey upon being analyzed show that it will be at least 2 to three more years before the iconic 10nm core processors can enter the market and leave a mark. With the Coffee Lake S refreshes that are set to take place from now until the first quarter of 2021, it looks like Intel will stick to refining its current 14nm process for the next few generations for its desktops at least.

The credibility of the slides are questionable but they also mention the release of desktop chips called Rocket Lake S that are set to release in the second quarter of 2021 that will be based on the 14nm node. However, CPU cores with up to 10 cores on a chip, this will come as a delight to those looking forward to more powerful PC’s. 10nm desktop cores are most likely to show up in the market in 2022, the same time when Intel is expected to move its Ocean Cove architecture that’s centered around next-gen processors with greater performance.

Ocean Cove will succeed 2021’s Golden Cove Core architecture which itself follows a Willow Cove and will follow on from the Sunny Cove architecture. As such it looks as though the Ice Lake mobile chips based off the Sunny Cove architecture will be the first 10nm chips. Ice Lake is expected to take the form of the low-powered U-series and Y-series laptop CPUs at some point this year. They will be based on the 10nm processors and are expected to come in two and four-core variants.

Apple being sued for $1 billion on outrageous claim https://techozen.com/apple-being-sued-for-1-billion-on-outrageous-claim/ https://techozen.com/apple-being-sued-for-1-billion-on-outrageous-claim/#respond Thu, 25 Apr 2019 19:31:27 +0000 https://techozen.com/?p=821 The lawsuit filed by a shoplifter claims he has been falsely identified

Post the settlement with Qualcomm last week a lot of Lawsuits against Apple were dropped, which meant the legal team had a lot less to worry about. However, new lawsuits have found their way to Apple yet again with another billion dollar lawsuit being filed against it.

According to reports from Bloomberg and New York Post have both reported the case of 18-year-old Ousmane Bah suing the tech giant for a billion dollars. His lawsuit is that he was falsely arrested by the NYPD on the 29th of November last year because of the facial recognition he has accused Apple of using in its Apple stores. The NYPD arrested Bah after accusing him to be the one responsible for the thefts in the Boston, New Jersey, Delaware and Manhattan branches of the Apple store. His lawsuit accuses Apple of having found a stolen ID with his name and address but one that did not possess his picture.

Recommended News:

He claims that Apple programmed this into the Stores facial recognition system to connect the real thief’s face with the data from his ID. He claims that he was arrested based on this mistaken identity.

What does come as a surprise is that the charges against Bah have been dropped except in New Jersey, this is due to lack of evidence and also the fact that he had an alibi on the night of the break-in. An excerpt from Bah’s lawsuit reads  “(Apple’s) use of facial recognition software in its stores to track individuals suspected of theft is the type of Orwellian surveillance that consumers fear, particularly as it can be assumed that the majority of consumers are not aware that their faces are secretly being analyzed.” This is a charge of elephantine proportion to be leveled at a tech giant like Apple but the reply from the company is nothing more than a statement denying the use of face recognition in their retail outlets.
