But what if I tell you that you have a great opportunity to turn your ‘too good to be true’ dream into reality. Yes, you heard me right. The job of Sundar Pichai, who is the current CEO of Google was up for grabs on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a professional networking platform and recently it was providing an opportunity for the people to apply for their dream job in the world.

Millions of people around the globe took full advantage of this and applied for the position. But unfortunately, it was not real. Later it was revealed by the Microsoft-owned LinkedIn that the position was open due to a security bug in their software. The bug let people all over the world apply on literally any firm’s official LinkedIn page for the job openings.

These high-profile job positions were listed in the company’s profile under the ‘jobs’ section. They were listed as any other job and seemed so legitimate that people were convinced that it was real. The issue came into notice when a job posting for Google CEO put up by Michel Rijnders.

As soon as the company realized about this issue they assured that they have removed the posting also that they are looking into the issue that made this post to go live. LinkedIn also assured everyone that it a place for real people to have a real conversation about their careers.

Apple being sued for $1 billion on outrageous claim https://techozen.com/apple-being-sued-for-1-billion-on-outrageous-claim/ https://techozen.com/apple-being-sued-for-1-billion-on-outrageous-claim/#respond Thu, 25 Apr 2019 19:31:27 +0000 https://techozen.com/?p=821 The lawsuit filed by a shoplifter claims he has been falsely identified

Post the settlement with Qualcomm last week a lot of Lawsuits against Apple were dropped, which meant the legal team had a lot less to worry about. However, new lawsuits have found their way to Apple yet again with another billion dollar lawsuit being filed against it.

According to reports from Bloomberg and New York Post have both reported the case of 18-year-old Ousmane Bah suing the tech giant for a billion dollars. His lawsuit is that he was falsely arrested by the NYPD on the 29th of November last year because of the facial recognition he has accused Apple of using in its Apple stores. The NYPD arrested Bah after accusing him to be the one responsible for the thefts in the Boston, New Jersey, Delaware and Manhattan branches of the Apple store. His lawsuit accuses Apple of having found a stolen ID with his name and address but one that did not possess his picture.

Recommended News:

He claims that Apple programmed this into the Stores facial recognition system to connect the real thief’s face with the data from his ID. He claims that he was arrested based on this mistaken identity.

What does come as a surprise is that the charges against Bah have been dropped except in New Jersey, this is due to lack of evidence and also the fact that he had an alibi on the night of the break-in. An excerpt from Bah’s lawsuit reads  “(Apple’s) use of facial recognition software in its stores to track individuals suspected of theft is the type of Orwellian surveillance that consumers fear, particularly as it can be assumed that the majority of consumers are not aware that their faces are secretly being analyzed.” This is a charge of elephantine proportion to be leveled at a tech giant like Apple but the reply from the company is nothing more than a statement denying the use of face recognition in their retail outlets.

A number of Android apps track you without your permission https://techozen.com/a-number-of-android-apps-track-you-without-your-permission/ https://techozen.com/a-number-of-android-apps-track-you-without-your-permission/#respond Tue, 23 Apr 2019 20:56:34 +0000 https://techozen.com/?p=765 Delete these fraudulent applications right away

Buzzfeed recently published a controversial article which points out that several popular Android apps available on the Google Play Store have been collecting and storing user’s sensitive data without their permission and encryption.  This is alarming to most users as these are not the apps that are not popular, in fact, they are the most-downloaded apps on the Google Play Store mentioned in the report, they also happen to be developed by Chinese companies that may be sharing collected data with the Chinese government.

These are the apps that have been implicated in Buzzfeed’s investigation. If you have any of these installed on your phone, delete them right away:

  • Selfie Camera
  • Total Cleaner
  • Smart Cooler
  • RAM Master
  • AIO Flashlight
  • Omni Cleaner
  • WaWaYaYa
  • Emoji Flashlight
  • Samsung TV Remote Control (via Peel Technologies, Inc.)

However, as Buzzfeed’s investigated and it has pointed out, thse apps ask for various permissions that are “dangerous” permissions like access to phone sensors, location data, or personal contact information. These are a clear sign of suspicious apps.

Google has blacklisted six of the above apps Total Cleaner, Smart Cooler, Selfie Camera, RAM Master, AIO Flashlight, and Omni Cleaner in response to Buzzfeed’s reporting, and updated how it will evaluate permissions and developer accounts going forward.

But, even then, it seems to be far too easy for malicious developers to dupe the Google Play Store. Google has shown a sense of professionalism in removing these apps to ensure that the trust of the users is not lost.

The new One plus device will be 5G supported and will be called One plus 7 Pro with an upgrade in the display. This gives us a hint that the price of the phone can be somewhere close to Samsung S10, Huawei P30 though one plus has not revealed the price yet and but the upgrade that one plus is going to provide in its upcoming flagship will surely increase the price of the phone.

Lau said that the company he’s spending three times as much on display than the previous models and expecting it to be more fast and smooth to stand above their competitors. A 90hz screen that’s especially for gaming smartphones which mean 90 frames per second assuring a better animation quality.

“The first time I saw it myself, I was stunned,” Lau says.

While the company stays quiet about what’s under the hood. But with 3 times better display over its predecessor, there is a lot of expectation on the upcoming flagship by One plus. The recent leak about its features says Snapdragon 855 processor, as well as triple camera, are set up. Moreover, the three cameras will be 48 MP main lens, 8Mp telephoto lens, and 16 MP ultra-wide lens.

Lau also said that One plus 7 will be 5G supported but the company won’t boast around it as they are aware of the 5G availability currently and in the near future.

Elon Musk and SEC told by the court to hold a meeting for atleast an hour to discuss the “Tweet” Saga. https://techozen.com/elon-musk-and-sec-told-by-the-court-to-hold-a-meeting-for-atleast-an-hour-to-discuss-the-tweet-saga/ https://techozen.com/elon-musk-and-sec-told-by-the-court-to-hold-a-meeting-for-atleast-an-hour-to-discuss-the-tweet-saga/#respond Fri, 05 Apr 2019 19:25:07 +0000 http://techozen.com/?p=30 A federal judge in New York has ordered Tesla CEO Elon Musk and U.S. securities regulators to meet for at least an hour to try and settle a dispute over Musk’s tweets which have been taken in the wrong taste.

Elon Musk arrives at the Manhattan Federal Court with his legal entourage.

Judge Alison Nathan also told both sides Friday to send her a letter by April 18 saying whether they have reached a deal. If they don’t, Nathan will decide on the Securities and Exchange Commission’s motion to find Musk in contempt, leading to a trial which could create trouble for Musk’s conglomerate.

The SEC wants Nathan to fine Musk for allegedly violating a court-approved settlement requiring his tweets to be approved by a lawyer if they disclose important company facts. Musk’s lawyers say he didn’t violate the settlement and they stand firm on it.

The judge also wrote that if Musk is found in contempt, both sides will write legal briefs about his punishment and decide upon the punishment.

The order comes after Nathan urged both sides to agree at a hearing in New York that Musk attended on Thursday.

SEC attorney Cheryl Crumpton recommended fines for Musk if Nathan finds him in contempt of the October settlement. The SEC alleges that Musk blatantly violated the settlement with a Feb. 19 tweet about Tesla vehicle production that wasn’t approved by the company’s “disclosure counsel.” The agency contends that Musk hasn’t sought the lawyer’s approval for a single tweet he has posted.

But Musk attorney John Hueston told the judge that the SEC had failed to show his client had violated the deal. He said Musk does what he is told and is “somebody trying his best to comply.”

Musk’s lawyers say his tweet that Tesla would produce around 500,000 vehicles this year didn’t need pre-approval because it wasn’t new information that would be meaningful to investors. His attorneys said the SEC was violating his First Amendment rights to free speech and dialogue.

In a statement after the hearing, Musk signaled he is willing to work out a deal.

“We have always felt that we should be able to work through any disagreements directly with the SEC, rather than prematurely rushing to court,” he said.
